Hey! My name is Joel. I’m a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern attending Capella University. I received my bachelors in English in 2017, and my Master’s Degree in Education in 2018. After getting out of the Army, I went back to school and spent six years as an English teacher. While I enjoyed my time as a teacher, I wanted to do more to help those I worked with. So, here I am. While most of my recent work has been with young people, I work with clients of all ages.
I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and existential approaches to foster personal growth and resilience in my clients. My practice is firmly LGBTQ+ affirming, dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities. I strive to empower clients by helping them address their unique challenges, promoting self-awareness, and helping them find meaning and purpose in their lives.
