Hello! My name is Adriana Romero. I am currently a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate student at University of Colorado Colorado Springs. I graduated with my undergraduate Psychology degree from UCCS in 2020 and returned in 2023 to begin my counseling education.

I have always had a special place in my heart for children, working with them now for nearly 15 years, after my first babysitting job at 14 years old. As an adult, I worked for a local foster care agency for over 7 years and that job helped lead me to counseling. I wanted to have a greater impact on children in need and that perfectly aligned with Project Ember’s mission to serve everyone who walks through their doors, from the youngest to the oldest client.

Currently, I specialize in Play Therapy with ages ranging from around 2 to 9 years old. The Play Therapy Model is a great fit for this age range, as children don’t yet have the words or capacity to express their full range of emotions quite yet. Play is their main form of communication, where they can feel safe to reenact hard scenarios they may be struggling to process and/or to explore the expanding world around them.

I truly believe anyone and everyone can benefit from counseling. I can only hope to help be a small catalyst in the process for you or your child if you choose to work with me!
