Approach to Therapy
What is an Approach to Therapy?
Ultimately, you as the client are in control of what you’d like to work on and the goals you would like to achieve. To aid in this process, various modalities of therapy may be utilized such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Experiential Treatment Activities, and Play Therapy to name a few.
During your initial visit, we will work together to decide the approach that best suits you as an individual, couple, or family. We will also plot out the path for future sessions and desired outcomes by creating a treatment plan (goals and objectives) for therapy, and what issues you would like to work on or problems to resolve. While the approaches used are evidence-based and shown to be effective, sometimes it is a matter of finding which method works best for you.
