Hi! I’m Barbara. I have spent many years as a federal employee in Information Technology and military mission support. I came to counseling later in life after navigating my own struggles with the lifelong effects of trauma. My journey eventually led me to pursue graduate training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The College of William & Mary (Military/Veteran’s Concentration), and I’m grateful and honored to be serving as a counseling intern at Project Ember Initiative.
I am passionate about helping people navigate the effects of trauma in their lives and those who are on their journey to find and honor their authentic self. I use a collaborative and thoughtful approach to counseling, grounded in genuine curiosity about each person’s unique story, YOUR unique story. I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey.
Outside the therapy room, I tend to my garden and houseplants and spend as much time as possible with my husband and three rescue mutts. When time permits, I also like to travel, quilt, cook, and read.
